TL;DR
Sr Embedded Software Developer (C/C++/COMSEC): Developing and verifying embedded software, low-level drivers, firmware, and secure communications capabilities for aerospace systems with an accent on hardware/software integration, cryptographic functions, and platform integrity. Focus on implementing Zero Trust architectures, Secure Boot, device authentication, and automated verification for resource-constrained embedded platforms.

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States

Base pay: $181,626–$254,275 per year for Colorado applicants; ranges may differ by site.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for COMSEC systems.
  • Develop low-level drivers and firmware for embedded hardware platforms and support hardware bring-up, debugging, and verification.
  • Collaborate with electrical circuit and FPGA designers on hardware/software integration and register-level interfaces.
  • Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, documentation, and the full software development lifecycle.
  • Develop unit, integration, automated regression, verification, and validation tests.
  • Implement secure communications, cryptographic capabilities, device authentication, identity management, Secure Boot, measured boot, and Zero Trust security principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of embedded software development experience with strong C/C++ skills.
  • Experience with RTOS, SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, FPGA interfaces, and register-level hardware integration.
  • Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture, including NIST SP 800-207 and the DoD Zero Trust Reference Architecture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted U.S. refugee or asylee due to export control regulations.

Nice to have

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with COMSEC, cryptographic systems, secure communications, HAIPE, TACLANE, or KG-series equipment.
  • Experience with FIPS 140-2/140-3, NIST SP 800-53, RMF, PKI, certificate-based authentication, TPM, HSM, or PUF technologies.
  • Experience applying least privilege, micro-segmentation, continuous verification, and identity-aware access controls.
