Sr Associate Publishing Production

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; in-office Monday–Thursday and work from home on Fridays

Salary: USD $74,000–$110,000 yearly

What you will do

• Coordinate production activities for assigned publishing titles from manuscript through manufacturing and final delivery.
• Develop and monitor production schedules, identify risks, and create mitigation plans for key milestones.
• Review specifications, estimates, proofs, color targets, manufacturing samples, and production plans.
• Troubleshoot printer delays, file issues, specification conflicts, manufacturing defects, and schedule changes.
• Manage day-to-day communication with printers, prepress vendors, binders, component suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Analyze cost, quality, schedule, and production data while supporting process improvements and leadership decisions.

Requirements

• Experience managing multiple complex projects with competing timelines, budgets, quality expectations, and priorities.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, collaboration, vendor management, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to evaluate production risks and make recommendations affecting cost, quality, and delivery.
• Ability to work in the El Segundo office Monday–Thursday and remotely on Fridays.
• Experience with production schedules, specifications, estimates, manufacturing documentation, and project data.

Nice to have

• Experience in children's, trade, licensed, or consumer products publishing.
• Knowledge of global manufacturing, import logistics, and international print sourcing.
• Experience managing print budgets, forecasting production costs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Familiarity with quality management systems, manufacturing standards, ERP or title-management systems, and Smartsheet.
• Knowledge of FSC-certified paper, sustainability initiatives, and publishing compliance standards.
