TL;DR
Structural/Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and analyzing structural components for reusable air-launched hypersonic flight vehicles with an accent on composite structures, FEM, CAD modeling, and manufacturing integration. Focus on sizing components, generating margin reports, resolving technical challenges, and supporting the structural performance of the Talon-A vehicle.

Location: Onsite in Mojave, California, United States. Travel is required as needed and estimated at less than 5%.

Salary: $101,079–$146,500 for Level II or $120,500–$158,000 for Senior Level III, annually.

hirify.global develops reusable air-launched Talon testbeds and hypersonic flight technologies for operational testing at Mach 5+.

What you will do

  • Design aerospace structural components and secondary support structures for the Talon-A hypersonic vehicle.
  • Size and analyze components using hand calculations and FEM, and prepare structural margin reports.
  • Create 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies and release engineering work orders.
  • Select materials and composite construction methods while supporting fabrication and assembly with technicians and shop personnel.
  • Resolve technical challenges involving Talon-A and its integration with the carrier aircraft.
  • Support the Talon-A Structures Lead through technical guidance, mentorship, and communication with project leads.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 2–5 years of experience for Level II, or 5–10 years for Senior Level III; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with FEM, hand calculations, 3D CAD modeling, composite fabrication, composite tooling, aerospace fasteners, drafting, and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks, as well as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate technical rationale, work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace-grade hardware, metallic design, ground test hardware, bonded and wet-tied composite structures, FEMAP, or Nastran.
  • Experience generating loads and planning or executing component, subsystem, and static structural tests.
  • Active security clearance and experience with Jira or configuration management systems.
