Construction Manager (Manufacturing)

Location: Benson, NC, United States; daily on-site presence at an active industrial construction site is required. The role requires a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

What you will do

• Represent the Owner as the primary field contact for the design-build General Contractor and oversee daily construction, site logistics, and MEC system installation.
• Review design development and construction execution against project requirements, performance specifications, and the contract basis of design.
• Validate the GC's master schedule, look-ahead plans, progress claims, productivity, and schedule risks.
• Perform independent Owner-side quality inspections and safety oversight, escalating deviations, non-conformances, and safety concerns.
• Review change orders, pay applications, and schedule impact claims for accuracy and contract compliance.
• Support commissioning, start-up, turnover, documentation, reporting, punch lists, and coordination between the GC and Owner engineering and operations teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industrial construction management experience, including direct Owner-side representation as an Owner's Construction Manager, Owner's Representative, or similar.
• Experience with design-build contracts and accountability for contract specifications, schedule, safety, and risk allocation.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls installations, construction drawings, P&IDs, electrical one-lines, equipment specifications, and construction scheduling tools.
• Experience reviewing pay applications, change orders, schedule impact claims, and supporting Owner-side commissioning, start-up, and turnover.
• Strong communication, organization, independent judgment, and field-leadership skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience is accepted. Must be a U.S. Person.

Nice to have

• Experience as an Owner's Construction Manager or Owner's Representative on industrial or manufacturing capital projects.
• Experience with greenfield or brownfield manufacturing expansions delivered through design-build or EPC.
• OSHA 30 certification or an equivalent industrial safety credential.
