TL;DR
Software Engineering Intern (Command & Control) (C++/TypeScript/JavaScript): Building human-machine interfaces and communications software for the Quarterhorse supersonic unmanned aircraft with an accent on remotely piloted and autonomous flight control. Focus on designing cockpit interfaces, integrating RF, Satcom, and networking systems, and testing software across the full development lifecycle.

Location: On-site in Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Salary: $25–$33 per hour, with final compensation based on degree level.

hirify.global is a venture-backed defense aviation company developing high-speed aircraft through rapid iterative prototyping.

What you will do

  • Develop human-machine interaction software for flight crews controlling the Quarterhorse aircraft and running simulations.
  • Build communications software for RF, Satcom, and networking systems on ground stations and the vehicle.
  • Design and implement interfaces for remotely piloted HOTAS control and point-and-click autonomous flight management.
  • Collaborate with flight crews to assess cockpit software and hardware usability.
  • Work with engineers to display and control aircraft hardware systems.
  • Participate in planning, design, implementation, code review, testing, documentation, and user evaluation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university as an undergraduate student at least at rising-senior level or as a Master's or Ph.D. student.
  • Pursuing Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related degree with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Experience with C or C++ and web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, Electron, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of computer networking and experience with aviation or simulations.
  • Understanding of engineering first principles and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person or be eligible for deemed export licensing because the role involves access to U.S.-controlled export information and items.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace industry knowledge or experience from aviation, rocketry, piloting, or flight simulation activities.
  • Experience with 2D or 3D games or simulations, especially Unreal, Unity, or Cesium.
  • Knowledge of TCP/UDP, IP routing, or other networking protocols.
  • UI or Human-Computer Interaction coursework.
