Research Scientist (AI/Biology)

What you will do

• Adapt frontier AI models to biological tasks using fine-tuning, post-training, and architectural modifications.
• Design and execute experiments applying large models to genomics, regulatory biology, and protein biology.
• Develop evaluation pipelines and benchmarks for biological tasks like variant interpretation and gene regulation modeling.
• Design biologically meaningful data representations across sequence, molecular, and multimodal modalities.
• Analyze model behavior and failure modes to improve reasoning in biological contexts.
• Collaborate with computational biologists and systems architecture teams to integrate biological capabilities into foundation models.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify participant)
• Strong background in machine learning and deep learning, including generative architectures like LLMs or diffusion models.
• Experience adapting large models to new domains via fine-tuning or architectural modifications.
• Proficiency in Python and ML tooling (PyTorch or JAX, distributed training).
• Familiarity with molecular biology and biological data modalities (genomics, protein biology, or cellular systems).
• Mid-to-senior level experience building and deploying ML systems in research or production.

Nice to have

• Experience with genomic sequence models like Evo, HyenaDNA, or AlphaFold.
• Background in structural biology, chemistry, or multimodal biological modeling.
• Experience scaling ML experiments across large GPU clusters.
• Research publications in ML for biology or chemistry.
