TL;DR
Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer (AI): Developing probabilistic ML theory and training models in the thermodynamic paradigm with an accent on energy-based models and diffusion models. Focus on scaling experimentation infrastructure, implementing new architectures, and bridging the gap between theoretical research and hardware-accelerated deployment.

Location: On-site in San Francisco

Salary: $150,000 – $250,000 + Equity

hirify.global is a hardware company building systems to massively accelerate probabilistic inference.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with researchers and physicists to derive theory for new probabilistic models, including energy-based and diffusion models.
  • Scale experimentation infrastructure and optimize model design spaces.
  • Implement, visualize, and evaluate new architectures, training algorithms, and benchmarks.
  • Publish research papers and contribute to open-source projects.
  • Communicate design insights to the hardware team and create production models for domain experts.

Requirements

  • Must be based in San Francisco for on-site work.
  • Strong proficiency in scientific Python and at least one deep learning framework (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, or Keras).
  • Extremely strong foundations in probability and linear algebra.
  • Proven experience with deep learning theory, including over-parameterization and scaling laws.
  • Publications in top ML conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or CVPR.
  • Experience training and deploying high-performance models using infrastructure like Slurm, Ray, Weights & Biases, AWS, or ONNX.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing probabilistic graphical models (PGM) or energy-based models (EBMs).
  • Background in numerical methods, message passing, or graph neural networks (GNNs).
  • Theoretical expertise in information geometry, random matrix theory, or computational Bayesian methods.
