Urgent Care Physician (Telemedicine)

What you will do

• Perform age-appropriate histories and virtual examinations for newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Evaluate, diagnose, triage, and manage acute-care visits, chronic conditions, and mental health concerns.
• Recommend treatment plans, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and request consultations or referrals when appropriate.
• Document patient information, findings, and care plans accurately and promptly.
• Educate and counsel patients while maintaining high standards of safety and care quality.
• Maintain current knowledge of medical research and clinical trends.

Requirements

• Completion of a 3-year residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• At least 3 years of post-residency experience in urgent care or fast-paced outpatient primary care.
• Active ABMS or AOA board certification in Family Medicine, or dual board certification in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
• Completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination and an active, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state; maintaining active Medicare status is required.
• Experience providing care across all age groups, including newborns, and the ability to work within an integrated medical practice.
• Strong clinical expertise, communication skills, technology proficiency, flexibility, and compliance with state and federal healthcare-program eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Licensure in multiple states, especially GA, AL, TN, MO, SC, IN, OK, or MS.
• Telemedicine or video-based virtual-care experience.
• Experience with Athena EMR.
• Interest and experience in supervising Nurse Practitioners.

• Remote independent-contractor work with flexible scheduling.
• At least 25% of prescheduled time is recommended for weekends and at least 25% after 5 p.m. in the local time zone.
• A minimum of 8 scheduled hours per quarter is required to remain active as an IH Direct IC.
• Schedules are set 30 days in advance, finalized 7 days before the start of the month, with potential additional ad hoc shifts.
• 90% schedule adherence is expected.
