Procurement Specialist (Fusion Energy)

Developing next-generation stellarator fusion machines and the hardware and infrastructure required for a commercial fusion power plant.

What you will do

• Design and execute procurement strategies for professional services, technical consulting, engineering support, and research agreements.
• Identify, assess, onboard, and manage suppliers while maintaining standards for quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
• Lead negotiations for service agreements, statements of work, framework agreements, and related contracts.
• Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including intake, supplier selection, contract execution, renewals, and performance tracking.
• Improve procurement systems, databases, AI adoption, and process automation.
• Collaborate with engineering, finance, legal, and operations teams on technically informed and commercially sound decisions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, ideally in a fast-paced environment developing complex systems or services.
• Technical and commercial understanding, including the ability to assess technical requirements, supplier capabilities, and project constraints.
• Experience with contract negotiation, supplier risk management, and cost or value optimization.
• Experience with procurement platforms, ERP tools, and data-driven decision-making.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
• Fluency in English and comprehensive German are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in startups, nuclear or energy, aerospace, defense, medtech, or other highly regulated technical industries.
• Familiarity with research collaborations, engineering consulting procurement, or framework agreements.
• Experience scaling procurement processes in growing organizations.
