Engineer IV - VI, Nuclear Safety Analysis (Nuclear Safety/PRA): Performing safety analyses and probabilistic risk assessments for X-energy technologies with an accent on thermal-fluid analysis, source-term and radiological consequence analysis, licensing-basis event modeling, and safety-basis documentation. Focus on developing and validating engineering models, applying industry standards, supporting nuclear licensing reviews, and providing technical direction for complex safety-analysis programs.
Location: Rockville, Maryland; work site at 9801 Washingtonian Boulevard, Gaithersburg, Maryland. 4–5 days in office; standard schedule is 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday. Travel expectations are 10%.
Salary: Level IV $112,000–$166,000; Level V $138,500–$193,000; Level VI $166,000–$221,000 per year.

What you will do
- Perform safety analyses and probabilistic risk assessments in accordance with applicable industry standards and guidance.
- Lead system-level thermal-fluid analyses, process design, source-term and radiological consequence analyses, and licensing-basis event evaluations.
- Create, maintain, verify, and validate software models representing project designs and technologies.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, safety-basis documents, procedures, requirements, and specifications.
- Provide independent technical leadership, guide junior engineers, and establish discipline roadmaps, best practices, and design criteria.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership, project stakeholders, customers, and regulators during nuclear safety reviews and technical working groups.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nuclear, chemical, mechanical, or another engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
- Typically 10 years of engineering experience for Level IV, 15 years for Level V, or 20 years for Level VI.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in engineering or a related field may substitute for part of the required experience.
- Ability to work independently, exercise technical judgment, interpret standards, and address increasingly complex engineering problems.
- Ability to work 4–5 days per week in the Maryland office and follow the Eastern Time office schedule.
- US work authorization is required under the stated Right to Work and E-Verify conditions.
