Solutions Architect - Data Visualization (Power BI)

Location: US - Remote; travel to SHI, partner, and customer locations may be required.

Salary: $160,000–$215,000 annually, including base salary and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise data visualization strategy, discovery workshops, analytics maturity assessments, roadmap engagements, and executive strategy sessions.
• Design reporting architectures covering semantic models, workspace and app structures, certification and endorsement models, reusability standards, and governed self-service.
• Architect and oversee Power BI solutions using Power Query, DAX, composite models, Direct Lake models, and performance optimization for large-scale deployments.
• Design row-level and object-level security models and integrate Power BI with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Azure Data Services, and upstream data engineering workstreams.
• Advise executive stakeholders and delivery teams, lead design reviews, and enable clients to sustain and extend analytics solutions.
• Establish accessibility, design, documentation, performance testing, version control, and deployment standards for analytics workstreams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Information Design, Information Systems, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least five years of experience delivering enterprise analytics, business intelligence, or data visualization solutions, with substantial Power BI experience.
• Hands-on experience with dimensional modeling, semantic model design, Power Query, DAX, Tabular Editor, and performance tuning.
• Experience designing enterprise reporting architectures with security, workspace, and endorsement models adopted across an organization.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Direct Lake semantic models, as well as data engineering and governance architectures.
• Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and customer-facing consulting skills.

Nice to have

• Experience creating custom Power BI visuals with Deneb, Vega-Lite, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Lakehouse architectures, Microsoft 365 Copilot analytics enablement, or Microsoft Purview.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, or analytics center-of-excellence programs.
• Experience supporting regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, or the public sector.
