Sr Purchasing Specialist - Avionics & Mission Systems (Aerospace)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia; hybrid. U.S. export control compliance is required: candidates must be U.S. persons or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

What you will do

• Source and procure avionics, electrical, and mission systems hardware, including PCB/PCBAs, sensors, harnesses, connectors, and power electronics.
• Develop sourcing strategies, establish supplier partnerships, and negotiate pricing, lead times, commercial terms, and NRE.
• Issue and manage purchase orders for prototype, development, qualification, and production builds.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program teams to align hardware requirements and delivery schedules.
• Monitor supplier performance, component availability, capacity, lifecycle, and obsolescence risks.
• Resolve supplier quality, delivery, invoicing, engineering change, and material non-conformance issues while maintaining required documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or strategic sourcing.
• Experience managing suppliers and purchasing complex engineered hardware or components.
• Experience negotiating pricing, lead times, and commercial terms.
• Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, space, or aviation.
• Experience sourcing avionics, electronics, electrical, or mission systems hardware.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications.
• Knowledge of electronic component lead times, allocation, lifecycle, and obsolescence risks.
• Familiarity with ITAR, DFARS, supplier quality, and traceability requirements.
