TL;DR
Forward Deployed Engineer, Mechanical (UAV): Integrating and adapting mechanical systems for Auterion’s UAV platforms and customer applications with an accent on structural design, payload integration, prototyping, and field deployment. Focus on designing robust mechanical assemblies, troubleshooting electromechanical systems in dynamic environments, and coordinating integration across mechanical, electrical, software, and control systems.

Location: Arlington, Virginia, United States. International travel and field-based deployments are required. US citizenship is required, with eligibility to obtain clearances.

Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Integrate hirify.global hardware and UAV systems into customer platforms, including structural designs, mounting solutions, payloads, and environmental adaptations.
  • Design and iterate mechanical components and assemblies using CAD, 3D printing, machining, and other rapid prototyping methods.
  • Support field deployments, testing, and validation while troubleshooting mechanical and electromechanical issues.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers on mechanical integration and system adoption.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, product, and control engineering teams on system integration.
  • Create integration guides, mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and best-practice documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in robotics, aerospace, UAVs, or similar hardware-focused industries.
  • Experience with mechanical design and prototyping using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication and assembly, including 3D printing, machining, soldering, wiring, and electromechanical integration.
  • Experience integrating sensors, payloads, and embedded hardware into mechanical systems, plus strong field troubleshooting skills.
  • US citizenship and eligibility to obtain clearances; willingness to travel internationally and work in field-based environments.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of embedded systems, flight-control hardware, or robotics platforms.
  • UAV or drone piloting experience and familiarity with flight-control systems such as PX4.
