Senior Mechanical Engineer (UAV)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $152,000–$213,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Own mechanical components and subsystems from conceptual design through mass production.
• Optimize hardware designs for performance, high-volume manufacturability, and cost.
• Gather requirements and develop engineering architectures, design trades, and technical decisions.
• Use 3D modeling, FEA, prototyping, and engineering fundamentals to develop and validate designs.
• Lead design reviews, create engineering drawings, and investigate hardware and manufacturing failures.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Flight Test, and other engineering teams on tooling, vendors, build instructions, and validation testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and first-principles problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX.
• Ability to mentor and train peers and colleagues.

Nice to have

• Experience piloting, designing, or working with UAVs.
• Experience in high-volume, cost-sensitive industries such as consumer electronics or automotive.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, packaging and integration of PCBAs, batteries, and RF components.
• Experience with harsh-environment design, structural or other analysis disciplines, Teamcenter or similar PLM systems.
• Hands-on fabrication skills including machining, welding, CNC machining, or general shop tools.
