Platform Security Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California; on-site at the Mission office

Salary: $190,000–$310,000 USD base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Shape platform security architecture across data and credential handling, agent execution, and customer deployments.
• Lead threat modeling and secure design reviews, prioritizing critical risks, attack surfaces, and assumptions.
• Drive offensive security by stress-testing the platform, agents, and pipelines against realistic adversaries.
• Build scalable security tooling, automation, detections, and agent-based defensive systems.
• Partner with infrastructure, product, applied research, and engineering teams to establish secure-by-default practices.
• Own enterprise security guarantees and lead incident detection, containment, communication, and durable remediation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in platform security and cyber defense.
• Strong offensive security mindset with the ability to identify flaws and assess systems from an adversary’s perspective.
• Experience shipping secure software to production and applying sound judgment to prioritize vulnerabilities.
• Experience reducing risk through least privilege, defense-in-depth, secure design, and reduced complexity.
• Ability to work with high autonomy in ambiguous environments.
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco, California.

Nice to have

• Experience securing complex cloud and multi-tenant environments, particularly deployments inside customer VPCs.
• Knowledge of AI and agent security risks, including prompt injection, tool-use abuse, data exfiltration, and model exfiltration.
• Background in offensive security, vulnerability research, or red teaming against cloud or AI systems.
• Experience using LLMs for detection, investigation, triage, or automated response.
• Experience completing SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or FedRAMP programs as engineering efforts.
