Community Manager - Open Source

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada; quarterly travel required.

What you will do

• Own and execute the community strategy for Argo CD and Kargo, defining goals, tracking health metrics, and growing contributors and engagement.
• Build contributor pathways through guides, onboarding documentation, maintainer office hours, newsletters, GitHub Discussions, release notes, and changelogs.
• Develop relationships with the CNCF, power users, contributors, and maintainers across GitHub and related social channels.
• Coordinate community programming, including contributor summits, virtual deep dives, GitOps Monthly webinars, live Q&As, and co-located meetups.
• Shape event presence at KubeCon, ArgoCon, DevOps Days, PlatformCon, and other Kubernetes and GitOps conferences, including CFPs, speaker preparation, booth coordination, and follow-up.
• Work with engineering, product, and marketing to surface community feedback and turn event interest into lasting engagement.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of community management or developer relations experience in an open source or developer tools context.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, GitOps, Argo CD, and the cloud-native ecosystem.
• Proven success growing a technical open source community in a measurable way.
• Hands-on experience with CFP management, booth coordination, event recap content, and follow-up programs.
• Strong asynchronous writing skills for GitHub comments, community newsletters, Slack threads, and release-related content.
• Comfort with metrics and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and marketing.

Nice to have

• Experience using or contributing to Argo CD or Kargo.
• Active participation in CNCF, OpenSSF, or related cloud-native communities.
• Speaking experience at KubeCon, ArgoCon, or a comparable developer conference.
• Experience creating ambassador or champion programs, or running programs around CNCF projects.
