TL;DR
Financial Analyst (Aerospace): Building financial models and analyzing budgets, forecasts, program costs, and operating performance for aerospace and defense technology programs with an accent on R&D spending, capital investments, and resource allocation. Focus on investigating performance variances, supporting engineering and manufacturing decisions, and improving forecasting and reporting through automation and financial systems.

What you will do

  • Own budgets and forecasts for assigned functions, partnering with business leaders on spending, headcount, program requirements, and financial risks.
  • Analyze monthly performance against budget and forecast, investigate variances, and communicate recommendations to Finance and business leadership.
  • Build and maintain models for long-term planning, program economics, capital investments, hiring decisions, and strategic scenarios.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and other teams to analyze program costs, schedules, resources, and financial implications.
  • Track R&D spending, capital expenditures, headcount, vendor commitments, and other cost drivers while supporting management, executive, and investor reporting.
  • Improve forecasting and reporting through better models, automation, and financial systems.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, product finance, investment banking, consulting, or a related analytical finance role.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, ownership, and prioritization skills.
  • Interest in aerospace, hardware, manufacturing, or national defense technology.
  • On-site work in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, NetSuite, Power BI, or similar financial planning and ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, hardware development, or R&D organizations.
  • Experience with program finance, unit economics, cost accounting, capital planning, or long-range financial modeling.
  • Experience with government contracts or the aerospace and defense industry.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance where required by program needs.
