Summer 2027 Intern - Hardware Engineering (Semiconductors)

Location: Onsite opportunities at U.S. locations including San Jose, California; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Irvine, California; Longmont, Colorado; Fremont, California; and Rochester, Minnesota.

Salary: $34.52–$46.00 per hour. Non-exempt position eligible for overtime according to company policy and applicable law.

Develops storage systems and hardware infrastructure for AI-driven data platforms, hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise infrastructure.

What you will do

• Design and verify ASIC, SoC, digital logic, and electronic hardware for next-generation storage products.
• Develop embedded firmware and low-level software using C, C++, Assembly, RTOS, and hardware interfaces.
• Integrate hardware, firmware, and software components while troubleshooting system-level issues.
• Prototype, validate, test, and improve mechanical, electronic, magnetic recording, and storage systems.
• Optimize manufacturing equipment, reliability, automation, preventive maintenance, and production performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, manufacturing, and process engineering teams from concept through production.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related technical discipline.
• Technical experience through coursework, internships, co-ops, research, laboratory work, capstone projects, hackathons, or personal projects.
• Familiarity with programming, digital logic, embedded systems, computer architecture, electronics, CAD, manufacturing, automation, testing, simulation, verification, debugging, data analysis, or systems integration.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
• Role locations are limited to the listed U.S. sites and the position is onsite.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and development tools such as Git, Linux, or IDEs.
• Interest in storage technologies, semiconductors, embedded systems, cloud computing, AI, or data analytics.
