Data Scientist (Agentic AI Systems)

Salary: $140,000–$150,000 annually plus bonus

What you will do

• Design and run applied research initiatives focused on AI agent behavior and learning loops.
• Build and evaluate models for planning, memory, retrieval, reasoning, and tool use in agentic systems.
• Develop internal tools, pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and simulators to test agent behavior.
• Analyze structured and unstructured data from user-agent interactions, logs, and experiments.
• Prototype and test hypotheses to improve agent performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to turn research insights into deployable features.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• 4+ years of experience in data science, applied machine learning, or AI research.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience using tools such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, LangChain, or similar agentic frameworks.
• Experience with LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, reinforcement learning, and fine-tuning.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments, iterate quickly, and communicate complex models clearly.
• Role location: Palo Alto, California, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with agent frameworks such as AutoGen, OpenAgents, or LangGraph.
• Background in decision-making models, memory systems, or multi-agent coordination.
• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, custom RAG pipelines, or agent-performance evaluation.
• Experience with LLM post-training methods including SFT, DPO, RLHF, or GRPO.
