What you will do

  • Lead testing and verification of reactor components, core assemblies, reactivity control mechanisms, instrumentation, and related subsystems.
  • Own testing from requirements definition and planning through execution, data analysis, documentation, and technical review.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, instrumentation requirements, and acceptance criteria for hardware performance and safety verification.
  • Collaborate with nuclear, mechanical, thermal, controls, and test engineering teams on test strategies and technical challenges.
  • Analyze experimental results against analytical predictions, investigate failures and anomalies, and drive corrective actions.
  • Support reactor operations, commissioning, integrated testing, readiness assessments, and configuration control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in reactor engineering, hardware testing, design verification, or complex hardware development.

  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical systems, heat transfer, materials, instrumentation, and component performance.
  • Experience creating technical procedures, acceptance criteria, engineering analyses, and root-cause investigations.
  • Must work 100% onsite at the El Segundo headquarters and be willing to support extended hours when needed.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with advanced reactors, microreactors, high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, core assemblies, or safety-critical hardware.
  • Familiarity with reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, nuclear safety, reactor operations, commissioning, or startup.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and testing under demanding thermal, mechanical, or environmental conditions.
  • Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or similar engineering tools, and familiarity with DOE, NRC, nuclear standards, or quality assurance requirements.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employees receive a substantial incentive stock plan.
  • Medical, vision, dental, life, accident, hospital, critical illness, commuter, FSA, and HSA benefits are available.
  • Eight weeks of paid parental leave for all parents, with additional paid pregnancy leave for California employees.
