Software Engineer (Scala)

What you will do

• Build and operate backend services and streaming applications for real-time vehicle and ride data.
• Develop products that provide insights to customers and internal users and power real-time experiences for millions of passengers.
• Own services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Strengthen automated testing, expand end-to-end test coverage, and improve delivery pipeline reliability.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional engineering team, solve complex technical challenges, and share knowledge.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of software development experience in a similar role.
• Experience with a JVM-based language; the team uses Scala 3.
• Experience building web applications and HTTP APIs.
• Infrastructure and CI/CD experience, such as Terraform or GitLab CI.
• Basic data analysis and modelling skills, along with strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ownership mindset, proactive problem-solving approach, and willingness to collaborate and share knowledge.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, AWS Kinesis, RabbitMQ, or other streaming technologies.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, infrastructure management, and cloud-native development.
• Experience with spatial or geolocation data, GPS coordinates, routing, mapping systems, or location-based services.
• Exposure to machine learning concepts, tools, or applications.
