Software Engineer II (Scala)

Location: Hybrid - Lisbon, Portugal. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the EU.

Salary: €55,000–€68,000 gross per year.

What you will do

• Complete smaller software development projects autonomously with regular oversight on new or undefined problems.
• Build and maintain production-ready, scalable web applications.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to evaluate problems and recommend effective solutions.
• Anticipate delivery roadblocks, estimate effort, and manage expectations.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, ideally Scala or Java.
• Experience building scalable production web applications.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and/or Postgres or similar technologies.
• Fluent English in verbal and written communication.
• Legal authorization to work in the EU.

Nice to have

• Experience with end-to-end, integration, or performance testing.
• Exposure to enterprise systems.
• Experience in a company with a strong US presence.
