Principal Software Engineer (FinTech)

Location: Hybrid workstyle in Japan; regular office attendance is expected according to organizational guidelines and team objectives.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software and core platforms.
• Lead the technical aspects of multiple projects through hands-on execution and guidance of other engineers.
• Provide architectural blueprints and technical leadership throughout program phases.
• Build common platforms supporting application systems across different business verticals.
• Develop tools, contribute to open-source projects, and identify root causes of technical issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive improvements in scalability, efficiency, and technical debt management.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or 7+ years of equivalent software development experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with distributed platform systems such as messaging platforms, Pub/Sub systems, databases, distributed computing frameworks, or schedulers.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and object-oriented programming.
• Deep understanding of concurrency, distributed computing, large-scale systems, messaging, and algorithms.
• Professional software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages and the ability to learn new technology stacks.

Nice to have

• Experience developing systems in finance, payments, or similar industries.
• Experience with AWS services.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Japanese and English language skills.
