Internship at Quantinuum’s UK QEC Team (Quantum Error Correction)

Location: On-site at the London-Victoria or Cambridge office, UK

Salary: £2,500 per month

What you will do

• Contribute to an active quantum error-correction research project supervised by QEC experts.
• Work on topics including algebraic geometry, tensor networks, ZX calculus, QEC code automorphisms, and fault-tolerant quantum computing.
• Accelerate classical simulations and design compact fault-tolerant magic-state preparation gadgets.
• Develop partially fault-tolerant techniques or demonstrate small-scale fully fault-tolerant algorithms on trapped-ion hardware.
• Write a research paper and/or develop software libraries supporting QEC research.
• Participate in team discussions, journal clubs, seminars, and related research activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent, in mathematics, computer science, physics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with scientific computing.
• Programming experience in Python.
• Ability to communicate scientific ideas clearly and precisely, verbally and in writing.

Nice to have

• Research publications demonstrating understanding of quantum error-correction fundamentals and the ability to contribute new ideas.
• Experience with C++, Rust, or Julia.
