Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid work with in-person collaboration at the New York City office 3+ days per week

Salary: $200,000–$300,000 plus equity or stock options.

hirify.global is a startup building AI-powered software that replaces legacy systems for municipalities and counties, streamlining permitting, licensing, and other government services.

What you will do

• Build, test, and ship full-stack features across resident-facing interfaces and backend services for government workflows.
• Develop a configurable platform that supports different rules and processes across thousands of municipalities.
• Own product areas end-to-end, ensuring reliable, maintainable, and performant production systems.
• Use customer feedback and production data to prioritize improvements while working with municipal staff and residents.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and code reviews that shape engineering practices.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of full-stack development experience building enterprise or consumer applications.
• Experience owning a significant product area from development through ongoing accountability.
• Strong product judgment and the ability to understand customer problems beyond ticket descriptions.
• Interest in using current AI models in products and development workflows.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup with regular attendance at the New York City office.
• Technical experience with React, TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, RedwoodJS, AWS, and OpenAI API.
