Location: Palo Alto, California, United States; onsite at the lab. Availability to collaborate with teams across the US and Europe, with meetings starting at 7am PT.

Salary: $221,000–$305,000 per year plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the development and scale-up of high-throughput assays across in vitro, cellular, and in vivo systems.
• Use multiplexed assays and laboratory automation to generate rich biological datasets.
• Define and execute lab strategy aligned with therapeutic and platform priorities.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.
• Oversee industry-standard validation assays for AI design models and downstream therapeutic applications.
• Promote scientific rigor, curiosity, and collaboration across disciplines.

Requirements

• PhD and 6+ years of post-PhD experience in industrial research applied to drug development.
• Experience managing and mentoring a data-driven lab of 10+ scientists.
• Experience with high-throughput or highly multiplexed assays using mammalian cells.
• Deep understanding of molecular and cellular biology, experimental design, visualization, analysis, and statistics for complex biological datasets.
• Ability to set scientific direction while executing operationally.
• Readiness to work onsite at the Palo Alto lab and travel several times a year for retreats and business events.

Nice to have

• Translational experience with mRNA, oligonucleotides, or other genetic medicines.
• Expertise in immunology or cell therapy.
• Hands-on experience in RNA biology and biochemistry.
• Scientific programming in Python.
• Experience with modern data engineering workflows.
