Senior Scientist, Functional Genomics

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $136,000–$170,000 annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and scale high-throughput CRISPR screening protocols in mouse models.
• Lead innovation in in vivo genetic screening workflows and methodologies.
• Partner with computational biology, AI/ML, and drug discovery teams to analyze and communicate functional genomics data.
• Resolve challenges involving assay reproducibility, sample throughput, data quality, and quality control.
• Manage multiple projects, maintain experimental records, and contribute to scientific presentations.
• Mentor junior researchers and lead cross-functional collaborations and long-term program planning.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology, or a related field, plus 4+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience.
• Strong experience with in vivo genetic manipulation, including lentiviral or AAV delivery in mice, mouse handling, colony management, and in vivo experimentation.
• Understanding of animal welfare and regulatory standards.
• Familiarity with Perturb-seq and single-cell genomics.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, adapt protocols, and optimize in vivo methodologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with spatial omics and new readout methods.
• Data analysis experience using Python or R.
• Experience with in vivo CRISPR screening.
