Senior Scientist, Computational Biology (AI)

Location: On-site in South San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $136,000–$170,000 annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end computational analysis of Perturb-seq datasets, from quality control through biological interpretation and therapeutic insights.
• Design standardized frameworks for integrating perturbation data across cell types, library designs, sequencing platforms, and experimental contexts.
• Build and maintain scalable, reproducible, modular, production-grade bioinformatics pipelines for large perturbation screens.
• Integrate Perturb-seq with CITE-seq, ATAC-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and external reference datasets for multimodal analysis.
• Partner with wet-lab and AI/ML scientists to optimize workflows and deliver modeling-ready data products.
• Maintain documented code repositories and computational environments, contribute to scientific strategy, publications, and patents, and mentor researchers.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a related quantitative field, with 5+ years of relevant industry or applied research experience.
• Deep expertise in single-cell RNA sequencing and substantial hands-on experience with Perturb-seq or CRISPR-based perturbation screens.
• Experience integrating heterogeneous datasets using batch correction, normalization, and quality control strategies.
• Experience building production bioinformatics workflows with Nextflow, Docker, and AWS.
• Proficiency in Python, including numpy, pandas, scanpy, and scikit-learn, plus Unix, Git, and GitHub experience.
• Working knowledge of statistics and machine learning for biological data, with strong scientific communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
