TL;DR
Principal Embedded Software Engineer - Security (C/ARM/Embedded Security): Extending and supporting secure Boot ROM, secure bootloader, and SDK security for Ambiq Apollo SoCs and emulation platforms with an accent on bare-metal MCU software, cryptographic hardware acceleration, and hardware-assisted security. Focus on leading security feature development, validating pre-silicon FPGA and post-silicon hardware, and debugging embedded systems across design and production.

Location: On-site 5 days a week in NW Austin, Texas, United States. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for MCU software planning, assignments, implementation, and new security features.
  • Extend and support Secure Boot ROM, secure bootloader, and SDK security for Apollo SoCs and emulation platforms.
  • Collaborate with design, architecture, verification, applications, SQA, and system test teams from security design through production.
  • Test and debug pre-silicon FPGA emulations and post-silicon devices, including hardware features supporting secure boot.
  • Integrate and test runtime cryptographic operations using embedded hardware accelerators.
  • Implement SDK hardware abstraction layers and board support packages, while contributing to automated testing and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 14+ years of embedded software project experience with bare-metal and RTOS systems, including 5+ years of relevant embedded security experience.
  • Expert-level C, strong C++, Python, ARM architecture, RTOS, and low-level driver skills including I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Experience with secure boot, PKI, AES, RSA, ECC, TrustZone, CryptoCell, embedded security, and IoT security concepts.
  • Experience with JTAG, Saleae, Git, Bash, GCC, ARM compilers, and MCU IDEs such as Keil, IAR, or Eclipse.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

  • 3+ years of team management experience.
  • Experience growing into a player-coach role and mentoring junior engineers.
