What you will do
- Set up supplier and payroll payments, download electronic bank statements, and execute daily banking transactions.
- Prepare draft monthly management accounts, variance analyses, and period-end schedules under UK accounting principles.
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping in Xero, including bills, sales invoices, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Review, calculate, and prepare UK VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations and basic UK VAT rules.
- Perform balance sheet, bank, and intercompany reconciliations to maintain accurate general ledgers.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience in bookkeeping, management accounting, or financial operations supporting UK-based businesses or similar jurisdictions.
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting principles, general ledger maintenance, month-end accruals, prepayments, and basic UK VAT rules.
- Hands-on proficiency with Xero and corporate banking platforms for statements and supplier or payroll payments.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail, sound financial judgment, and reliable daily workflow management.
- Dedicated secure home office, reliable 100/50 Mbps fiber internet, and backup connectivity of at least 20 Mbps are required.
Nice to have
- ACCA, CIMA, AAT, or equivalent accounting coursework.
- Experience with multi-currency reconciliations or Making Tax Digital VAT submissions.
- Wired Ethernet connection and power backup for locations with frequent outages.
