QEC Researcher (Frontier) (Quantum Error Correction)

Location: Cambridge, UK — hybrid

Salary: £50,000–£85,000 per year, dependent on experience

What you will do

• Test and evaluate potential solutions for the quantum error correction decoder.
• Convert early-stage research concepts into production-ready implementations.
• Propose and optimize quantum error correction protocols and experiments with internal teams and external partners.
• Write clean, well-structured code to test scientific ideas and contribute to the compiler and broader quantum error correction software stack.
• Write research papers and present work at conferences.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to ambiguous problems.
• Knowledge of at least one programming language; Python or C++ preferred.
• Experience with collaborative software development practices and version control such as GitHub.
• Ability to learn new concepts quickly and work collaboratively with colleagues and partners.

Nice to have

• Exposure to compilers, quantum error correction, or quantum computing.
• Strong fundamentals in computer science and software engineering.
