Founding Software Engineer, Platform (AI)

Location: New York City, NY; hybrid work with in-person collaboration at the office 3+ days per week

Salary: $200,000–$300,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own the deployment and reliability platform, ensuring production systems are safe, observable, and resilient.
• Build CI/CD foundations that improve deployment speed, safety, and repeatability across engineering teams.
• Establish metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, and on-call foundations.
• Lead incident response practices, including playbooks, escalation paths, postmortems, and reliability improvements.
• Own platform security and compliance foundations, including SOC 2 readiness, vulnerability management, and access controls.
• Develop internal tooling and improve infrastructure efficiency and cost performance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a backend, infrastructure, or platform engineer operating production SaaS systems at scale.
• Deep understanding of reliability, distributed systems, and operational failure modes.
• End-to-end ownership of CI/CD, observability, incident response, and production operations.
• Strong coding skills in Node, TypeScript, or a similar technology.
• Advanced use of modern AI tools, including Cursor, Copilot, and GPT-based workflows.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including documentation, RFCs, and postmortems.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog, GitHub Actions, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, RedwoodJS, or the OpenAI API.
