Procurement Engineer (Steam and Safety Valves)

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States. The role requires working in the office 4 days per week and from home 1 day per week; Level V candidates may be eligible for a remote opportunity. Relocation package available. Working hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Travel: 10%.

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 for Level III or $113,400–$189,000 for Level V per year.

What you will do

• Implement supply chain processes and serve as the primary liaison for key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Identify and develop equipment and service suppliers, including suppliers for controls, safety, relief, steam service control, and isolation valves.
• Develop category plans, supply chain execution plans, spend and risk analyses, and supplier risk mitigation strategies.
• Negotiate supplier contracts covering cost, schedules, technical requirements, terms and conditions, and long-term strategic agreements.
• Manage supplier contracts and performance to support project schedules, costs, delivery, and customer expectations.
• Review specifications, equipment datasheets, and scopes of work; coordinate supplier qualification and quality assurance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
• Typically 5 years of experience in engineering or supply chain; 15 years are required for Level V.
• Experience developing scopes of work and technical and quality requirements for equipment procurement.
• Basic knowledge of typical power plant components.
• Ability to work 4 days per week in the Gaithersburg office, with 1 day from home, unless eligible for the Level V remote opportunity.
• Right to work in the United States is required; the employer participates in E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Experience with controls and safety valves, relief valves, and steam service control and isolation valves.
• Experience in the nuclear industry or another highly regulated industry.
