Principal Engineer-Firmware (Embedded C)

Annual base salary: $86,000–$186,000 USD

What you will do

• Specify firmware features and architecture for new products.
• Design, develop, integrate, debug, and verify firmware for embedded SoC systems.
• Collaborate with firmware, chip design, validation, and application engineering teams on pre-silicon development and post-silicon troubleshooting.
• Participate in design and code reviews and create engineering documentation and customer user guides.
• Use analyzers and firmware debugging tools to resolve difficult issues reported by development teams and global customers.
• Support the execution and evolution of the firmware development process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 8+ years of industry experience in embedded firmware development.
• Strong C programming skills and experience debugging embedded-system issues.
• Knowledge of RTOS threads, scheduling, synchronization, and memory management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work with customers and technology partners during architecture and feature design.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Agile development processes.
• Experience with high-speed serial protocols such as PCIe and SAS/SATA.
• Experience with RISC/MIPS architectures, ThreadX RTOS, and SoC peripheral protocols.
