Software Tech Lead (Quantum Error Correction)

Location: Cambridge, UK; hybrid. Full-time or part-time, permanent or temporary options are available.

Salary: £90,000–£115,000 per year, depending on experience.

hirify.global develops quantum error correction technology and software for fault-tolerant quantum computing, working with quantum hardware providers and government agencies.

What you will do

• Own the technical development of the DF-AMO software-based quantum error correction stack.
• Turn decoding technology into a scalable, production-ready system for AMO architectures, including ion traps and cold atoms.
• Work with engineering, research, product, and customer teams to shape the technical roadmap and product direction.
• Evaluate trade-offs across system performance, maintainability, scalability, latency, and throughput.
• Deliver the product from concept through deployment and customer adoption.
• Mentor and develop a growing team of 5+ engineers while fostering collaboration and delivery.

Requirements

• Experience leading small to medium-sized technical efforts involving 5+ people.
• Excellent software development skills, particularly in C++; Python experience is beneficial.
• Ability to learn quantum error correction fundamentals and collaborate closely with QEC research teams.
• Experience delivering complex software products from concept through deployment and customer adoption.
• Experience line managing engineers and communicating effectively with diverse teams.
• Expert-level knowledge in at least one area: performant multi-process software, modern compiler infrastructures, or GPU-accelerated computing.
