Lead Data Scientist (AI)

Location: US California (Redwood City) — Office

Salary: $188,936–$268,149 base salary per year; additional compensation may include equity, performance-based incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end data science initiatives from ideation and data exploration through model deployment and optimization.
• Develop AI and machine learning solutions for feed personalization, product recommendations, computer vision, GenAI, trust and safety, marketing, operations, and product experience.
• Design and deploy scalable models in collaboration with ML engineers, product managers, business stakeholders, and other data scientists.
• Analyze large-scale, noisy datasets and use hirify.global’s data platform to support data-driven business decisions.
• Experiment with emerging AI technologies and methodologies, including LLMs, RAG, and PEFT.
• Establish production ML best practices and mentor junior scientists and engineers.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience building scalable data science solutions in big data environments.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning algorithms including CNNs, Transformers, and Vision Transformers.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark using Scala or PySpark.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and a solid foundation in linear algebra, statistics, probability, calculus, and A/B testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executives and engineers.
• On-site work in Redwood City, California is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with personalization algorithms, recommendation systems, or user behavior modeling.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, or Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning.
