TL;DR
Field Service Engineer (Biomedical Instruments): Installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Biocare Medical and contracted third-party instruments with an accent on electrical and mechanical diagnostics, equipment reliability, and client support. Focus on solving complex field service issues, coordinating corrective actions with cross-functional teams, and minimizing instrument downtime through extensive domestic and international travel.

Location: Remote within the US; candidates must reside in the greater Chicago area. Travel is required domestically and internationally for approximately 75% of the time.

Salary: $43.12–$67.37 per hour, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Install, calibrate, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on Biocare Medical and contracted competitive instruments.
  • Provide technical support to clients, Sales, Field Applications Specialists, and Technical Support teams.
  • Act as the on-site client point of contact for instrument and service issues.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, QA/QC, and R&D to identify corrective actions and ensure follow-up.
  • Participate in local, regional, and national histology and immunohistochemistry functions as needed.
  • Perform complex service assignments while minimizing equipment downtime.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technologies or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of Field Service Engineer experience in the medical or closely related instrument service field.
  • Competence in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Advanced computer skills for administrative reporting and interaction with instrument hardware and software.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Residence in the greater Chicago area and ability to travel domestically and internationally are required.

Nice to have

  • Robotics and fluidics experience.
  • Specialized equipment repair training, experience, or BMET/CBET certification.
