Private Markets Research Associate (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Annual salary: $142,000–$180,000 plus annual bonus for San Francisco residents.

What you will do

• Analyze proprietary transaction, pricing, liquidity, valuation, investor activity, and market performance data.
• Conduct quantitative research across industries, sectors, and private-market cohorts.
• Develop research frameworks, market indicators, analytical tools, benchmarks, indices, and performance metrics.
• Monitor private markets, venture capital, growth equity, IPO markets, and public equities for investment implications.
• Produce recurring research publications, market commentary, visualizations, presentations, webinars, and investor communications.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Client Experience teams to create data-driven thought leadership and respond to market-intelligence requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, Data Science, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in investment research, private markets, equity research, market intelligence, financial data, or a related area.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience interpreting large datasets.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with Python or similar analytical tools.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, including experience producing research reports, market commentary, or investment-related content.
• Ability to distill complex information into concise, data-driven insights.

Nice to have

• Experience with venture capital, growth equity, private equity, or alternative investments.
• Knowledge of private-company valuation methodologies and secondary-market dynamics.
• CFA designation or progress toward the CFA charter.
• Experience presenting research findings to investment professionals, advisors, or clients.
• Knowledge of financial markets, portfolio construction, and investment strategy.
