Senior Research Associate (Molecular Biology)

Salary: $109,200–$140,000 per year for the Senior Research Associate role in Redwood City

What you will do

• Maintain, expand, characterize, and troubleshoot immortalized and primary mammalian cell culture systems.
• Design and execute molecular biology workflows, including cloning, plasmid construction, nucleic acid preparation, and mRNA design and synthesis.
• Produce, optimize, and deploy lentiviral, AAV, and LNP delivery systems for gene perturbation, expression, and cellular engineering studies.
• Perform CRISPR genome editing, pooled and arrayed perturbation workflows, and follow-up validation experiments.
• Develop and optimize cell-based assays, reporter systems, and phenotypic readouts for discovery and therapeutic validation.
• Maintain thorough ELN documentation and help establish scalable SOPs and laboratory best practices.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in biotech, pharma, or a leading academic laboratory.
• Strong mammalian cell culture and molecular biology experience, including cloning and nucleic acid-based assays.
• Experience with viral transduction, gene delivery, and/or genome editing platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot experiments independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver reproducible, high-quality work.
• Strong organization, communication, scientific rigor, and ownership of complex workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with primary human cells, stem cells, organoids, ex vivo platforms, or other advanced cellular models.
• Experience with CRISPR screens, Perturb-seq, or high-throughput perturbation platforms.
• Experience with single-cell RNA-seq, single-nucleus RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, or related omics workflows.
• Experience with flow cytometry, imaging, high-content screening, or automated cell analysis.
• Interest or experience in aging biology, regenerative medicine, or cellular rejuvenation.
