High-throughput Data Generation to Advance ML Design (Biotech)

Location: Onsite at the lab in Palo Alto, California, United States. Availability to collaborate with team members across the US and Europe, with meetings starting at 8am PT. Travel several times a year for retreats and business events is expected.

Salary: $135K–$240K annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy novel high-throughput assays for measuring properties of large sequence libraries.
• Develop and execute pooled sequence-to-function assays in vitro, in cells, and in vivo.
• Use chemical and biological insights with data-driven optimization to maximize assay utility.
• Generate, analyze, and communicate biological datasets that improve AI-based molecular design.
• Collaborate with biologists, machine learning and data engineers, and translational experts.

Requirements

• PhD and 4+ years of post-PhD experience in startup, industry, or research settings.
• Strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology theory and techniques.
• Experience building highly multiplexed assays with mammalian cells, including large functional screens or single-cell omics.
• Scientific programming, preferably in Python, including analysis and visualization of complex data.
• Willingness to work onsite at the Palo Alto lab and collaborate across US and European time zones.
• English communication sufficient for collaboration with international team members.

Nice to have

• Experience with mammalian synthetic biology, especially cell therapy applications.
• Knowledge of RNA biology, biochemistry, and biologics drug development.
• Understanding of Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, and PacBio sequencing platforms, including library preparation and data analysis.
• Experience generating and analyzing large omics datasets using sequencing or mass spectrometry.
