Embedded Software Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Own the embedded software stack, including bootloader, Linux kernel, device tree, BSP, and drivers, for SoC-based compute platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson and Qualcomm.
• Develop Linux kernel drivers and userspace integrations for sensors, GMSL cameras, displays, storage, and high-speed interfaces including PCIe, USB, MIPI CSI/DSI, Ethernet, and CAN.
• Maintain build systems and BSP layers with Yocto, Buildroot, or vendor SDKs such as JetPack.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on custom carrier-board bring-up and hardware/software debugging.
• Optimize performance across the robotics software stack with software and machine-learning teams.
• Design and implement end-to-end OTA updates using RAUC, Mender, SWUpdate, or equivalent tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of embedded Linux or systems software development, including bring-up on modern application-class SoCs.
• Strong proficiency in C; experience with C++ and/or Rust is desirable for the role.
• Strong experience with Yocto, Buildroot, or an equivalent embedded Linux build system, including custom layers, recipes, and production image customization.
• Deep understanding of Linux boot flow, low-level peripherals, power management, secure boot, watchdogs, and production-readiness concerns.
• Experience debugging at the hardware/software boundary with schematics, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG, as well as developing CI pipelines for embedded Linux images.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering a project from prototype through production.
• Experience with PREEMPT_RT or RTOS-based firmware development.
• Python experience for scripting, data analysis, or test automation.
