Embedded Software Engineer (Linux)

Location: Remote - USA

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Develop and stabilize the embedded Linux operating system and firmware stack for drones and supporting docks.
• Work across low-level driver development, system bring-up, OS customization, and feature implementation.
• Develop and debug Linux kernel drivers for SPI, I2C, and UART interfaces.
• Customize bootloaders and perform early hardware bring-up and BSP development.
• Debug physical devices, run CI builds, and deploy stable operating system builds directly to hardware.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, QA, cloud teams, senior engineers, and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of embedded software development experience on consumer devices.
• Practical experience with embedded Linux systems, including Yocto or Buildroot.
• Strong C and C++ programming skills.
• Experience with Linux kernel internals, including memory management, power management, and IRQ handling.
• Experience developing or debugging Linux kernel drivers and working with bootloaders or early bring-up.

Nice to have

• Firmware development or debugging experience for Audio Digital Signal Processors.
• Experience with Qualcomm chipset bring-up and proprietary subsystems.
• Knowledge of OpenWRT and networking protocols and services such as TCP/IP and D-Bus.
