Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: South Africa; hybrid working model

What you will do

• Develop and optimize systems that manage order fulfilment throughout South Africa.
• Build and maintain scalable microservices using REST and event-driven architectures.
• Research and define technical solutions across the fulfilment domain.
• Work with business stakeholders to improve delivery efficiency, operations, and customer experience.
• Work predominantly with open-source platforms and take end-to-end ownership of solutions.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience writing robust, efficient production code.
• Proficiency in Java or comparable languages such as Scala, Angular, React, Python, or C#.
• Experience with SQL database systems and development in a Linux environment.
• Degree in Computer Science or a similar qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
• Solid communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and willingness to learn and teach others.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and integration.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, ideally in Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
