TL;DR

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Develop propulsion structural components for electric motors and inverters from concept through certification.
  • Assess boundary conditions and loads from interfacing engineering groups.
  • Perform hand calculations and finite element analysis to ensure product integrity, low weight, and robustness.
  • Document analyses for internal design reviews and certification.
  • Define and support coupon, specimen, bench, engine, and aircraft test plans for structural validation and verification.
  • Collaborate with design, systems, and certification teams to optimize and certify propulsion products.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in mechanical structure analysis, including static structures, bolted joints, fatigue, rotordynamics, or modal analysis.
  • Experience with FEA; ANSYS Workbench is preferred.
  • Ability to understand structures and static and dynamic loads and guide design optimization.
  • Experience with CATIA 3DX or an equivalent tool and tolerancing requirements.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, independent problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to work hard and meet ambitious goals and tight deadlines.

Nice to have

  • Experience iterating mechanical designs to reduce mass and improve robustness.
  • Strong knowledge of vibration and experience with rotating machinery.
  • Experience with electrical motors and inverters.
