Senior Compiler Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Cambridge, UK; hybrid. Full-time permanent position; part-time applications may also be considered.

Salary: £70,000–£90,000 per year, depending on experience.

hirify.global develops quantum error-correction technology and software for fault-tolerant quantum computing in partnership with quantum hardware providers and government agencies.

What you will do

• Design and build compilers, emulators, profilers, debuggers, and related system tools.
• Implement compiler optimizations, transformations, and analyses across multiple intermediate-representation levels.
• Own and lead a substantial part of the software stack for error-corrected quantum computing systems.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with engineering teams to integrate software and hardware artifacts with the compiler.
• Work with scientists and engineers on error-correcting codes and runtimes for new decoders.

Requirements

• Experience with compilers, particularly middle- and back-end areas such as IR design, optimization passes, and instruction selection.
• Experience with LLVM MLIR or other compiler technologies.
• Proficiency in Python and in C++ or Rust.
• Broad knowledge of compilers, operating systems, computer architectures, and the wider software and hardware stack.
• Experience shipping software to users, with strong communication and collaborative skills.
• Interest in the quantum open-source ecosystem and curiosity to learn.
