Principal Product Manager, Recommendations & Discovery (AI)

Location: United States; remote-first

Salary: $265,000–$330,000 annual base salary, plus a target 22.5% annual bonus and competitive equity.

What you will do

• Own personalization across homepage feeds, product recommendations, search, and registry-building experiences.
• Set the two-year product strategy, KPIs, investment priorities, and quality bar for recommendations and discovery.
• Partner with ML Engineering on modeling, data, evaluation infrastructure, and technical direction.
• Define tradeoffs between business objectives and user-perceived relevance while driving registry completion, GMV, advertising revenue, and retention.
• Build AI-enabled prototypes and analyses, and ship directly when that is the fastest path to learning.
• Mentor PMs, raise product judgment across the organization, and contribute to hiring.

Requirements

• Principal PM, GPM, Director, or comparable product leadership experience with organization-level influence.
• Experience shipping consumer-facing recommendations, search, ranking, or personalization systems at scale.
• Strong understanding of candidate generation, ranking, offline and online evaluation, cold start, exploration and exploitation, novelty effects, and responsible ML delivery.
• Technical fluency across data pipelines, feature engineering, model training, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Ability to work as a peer to senior ML Engineering leaders and translate ambiguous business problems into technical direction.
• Experience with commercial ownership, customer research, unit economics, cross-functional strategy, and daily use of LLMs or AI coding tools.
