TL;DR
Hardware Engineer (Robotics) (Electrical Systems and Embedded Firmware): Building end-to-end electrical systems for general-purpose robots, including sensing, motor control, power delivery, embedded firmware, and production hardware with an accent on high-speed interfaces, compact power and thermal design, and robust operation in challenging environments. Focus on designing multi-sensor architectures, debugging MIPI and other high-speed interfaces, developing low-level firmware and drivers, and driving hardware through certification and manufacturing ramp.

Location: On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Mateo) or Boston (Somerville), United States

Salary: $200K–$350K annually, plus equity

Company

hirify.global develops general-purpose robots and embodied foundation models focused on dexterity and intelligent interaction with the physical world.

What you will do

  • Own electrical designs from concept and architecture through schematics, PCB layout, fabrication, bring-up, validation, and scaled production.
  • Design sensing and motor-control electronics for low-latency, high-fidelity robot systems using interfaces such as RS-485 and CAN.
  • Develop multi-sensor architectures around highly integrated SoCs and high-speed interfaces including MIPI CSI/DSI, USB 3.x, and PCIe.
  • Architect power delivery, battery charging, and power-path systems using 802.3bt, USB-C PD, and LiPo sources within tight thermal and power budgets.
  • Write and debug embedded firmware in C, C++, and Rust, as well as low-level Linux device drivers for bring-up, testing, and production.
  • Drive manufacturing readiness through DFM/DFT, EMC and FCC/CE certification, test-fixture development, supplier coordination, and production ramp.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience shipping complex electronics products.
  • Demonstrated ownership of full-stack electrical engineering projects from concept to production.
  • Experience with highly integrated SoC-based designs, such as Qualcomm, NXP i.MX, or Ambarella, and high-speed interfaces.
  • Deep experience in imaging systems or motor control, including image sensors, ISP tuning, frame synchronization, BLDC drivers, current sensing, or encoders.
  • Ability to work across system architecture and hands-on bench activities such as soldering, rework, oscilloscope measurements, and live hardware testing.
  • Experience managing suppliers, design partners, contract manufacturers, or JDMs, including schedules, materials sourcing, and production ramp.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time on-site work with hardware, robotics, machine learning, and software teams.
  • Work on general-purpose robots and embodied AI systems.
  • Close collaboration with mechanical engineers on packaging, thermal design, connectors, and cabling.
  • Compensation includes equity.
