Data Solutions Engineer

Location: Hybrid in New York City, with in-person collaboration at the office 3+ days per week

Salary: $130,000–$240,000 per year, plus commission offers

hirify.global is a startup building AI-powered software that replaces legacy municipal and county systems and helps governments streamline public services.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end data migrations from legacy municipal systems into hirify.global.
• Work with government staff to understand source systems, configure schema mappings and ingestion settings, and run validations and dry runs.
• Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and edge cases before production launch.
• Lead customer calls and explain data requirements, constraints, and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Improve migration tools, templates, and playbooks to reduce manual work and time to launch.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to address recurring operational issues and tooling gaps.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in data migrations, ETL/ELT, technical implementations, or a related role involving production data.
• Hands-on ability to read, debug, and ship changes in a Python codebase through pull requests.
• Strong practical SQL skills for analysis, validation, reconciliation, and transformation.
• Ability to turn ambiguous stakeholder requirements into concrete, testable migration plans.
• High ownership and attention to correctness in execution-heavy environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar workflow orchestration tools.
• Customer-facing implementation or onboarding experience.
• Familiarity with geospatial data, GIS tools, ArcGIS, address data, or parcel data.
• Experience in B2B SaaS or other complex product domains.
• Experience turning operational problems into playbooks, tooling improvements, and system-level fixes.
