What you will do

• Own PIC schematic capture, physical layout implementation, and full-chip assembly using photonic IC design flows.
• Define PIC floor plans, waveguide routing, and PIC/EIC interconnect structures while balancing optical, electrical, and packaging constraints.
• Develop and maintain PDK-based workflows, including photonic cells, compact and behavioral models, and design rules.
• Drive DRC/LVS verification, extraction debugging, closure, tape-out readiness, and coordination with foundry partners.
• Automate design workflows through Python scripting, regression testing, layout checks, and data analysis.
• Document implementation decisions and communicate trade-offs across architecture, simulation, EIC, packaging, and product teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in PIC schematic capture and mask layout using Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys photonic design flows, or equivalent tools.
• Experience with foundry PDKs, layout constraints, process rules, manufacturability, tape-out, and foundry submission.
• Strong experience with DRC/LVS verification, debugging, and closure.
• Understanding of waveguides, coupling, loss budgets, photonic device behavior, and layout trade-offs.
• Strong Python scripting skills and experience with PIC/EIC co-design, advanced packaging, or package integration.

Nice to have

• Experience with Verilog-A or compact model development for photonic devices.
• Experience in semiconductor product development, including reliability, qualification, and production requirements.
