Research Associate, Stem Cell Engineering (Biotech)

What you will do

• Culture avian embryonic stem cells and test novel culture conditions.
• Transfect cells, sort monoclonal cell lines, and screen and expand cultures.
• Collect avian blastodiscs from embryos and derive stem cell cultures using a dissection microscope.
• Characterize and perform quality control on avian stem cell cultures.
• Inject stem cells into avian blastodiscs and assess genome-editing efficiency with the team using NGS sequencing.
• Attend lab meetings, prepare project reports and presentations, and maintain organized laboratory records.

Requirements

• BA, BS, MA, or MS in biological sciences, cell biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or a related scientific field.
• Experience with embryonic stem cell cultures and cell line derivation, culture, propagation, and transfection.
• Experience manipulating embryos under a microscope.
• Experience with molecular biology, including nucleic acid and protein extraction and gel electrophoresis.
• Experience with flow cytometry, immunostaining, and cell microscopy.
• Strong written and oral communication, creative problem-solving, organizational skills, and laboratory record maintenance.
